Iran’s CBI allocates funds for import of essential products

The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) to provide $6 billion for the import of essential products to Iran for the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), an official of the Central Bank of Iran Shiva Raveshi said, Trend reports citing the CBI’s website.

According to him, the allocation of these funds began in the 12th month of the last Iranian year (February 19 through March 20, 2021). And $1.4 billion has been allocated over the past two months (until April 20, 2021).

The official added that in addition, $900 million has already been provided. That is, the currency was bought by importers.

Reportedly, Iran imported 23.1 million tons of essential products worth $12 billion in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021). The imported essential products were corn, rice, soybeans, oilseeds, wheat, edible crude oil.

In total, Iran imported 34.4 million tons of goods worth $38.4 billion over last Iranian year.
