TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 16
Trend:
Iran's banking sector owns 1793 production units, of which 58 percent are inactive said Deputy Interior Minister of Iran.
Deputy Interior Minister added that of these 1793 units owned by the banking network, more than 1,200 units are owned by only 3 banks, said Babak Dinparast, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
Referring to the rule of transferring surplus property of banks and credit institutions to the private sector, he says that the banking network has no excuse for returning the owned production units to the economic cycle.
Dinparast went on to add that ministry has informed the banks to clarify the status of production units under their ownership within a maximum of one month.
Referring to the stagnant and inactive mines, he said the ministry figured out that out of over 12,000 mines in the country, there are 6,000 stagnant mines.
“The next issue was closed production units in industrial zones and towns,” he noted adding that out of 46,000 units in industrial zones and towns, 20 percent were inactive.
