Azerbaijan, Baku, July 17 / Trend H.Valiyev /

Azerbaijani mobile operator Bakcell considering ways to adapt the billing system based on manat tariffs, Bakcell CEO Inekke Botter said.

Botter said transition to manat tariffs is laborious process and requires a lot of effort. Therefore, yet it is not possible to speak about the exact date of transition to manat tariffs.

Subscribers use a point system not only to talk, but also for buying multimedia content and paying for public transportation in some countries. Airtime becomes a means of payment. Thus, the point system creates problems for micro-payments, as the caller has no idea how much he is spending on content or services. It is not clear when Azerbaijani operators will make the transition to monetary billing, but if the state does not bring about any strict requirements, then each operator can choose when to make the switch on its own.

The Azerbaijani Communications and IT Ministry has already given specific instructions to operators to transfer to manat tariffs. A decision was adopted by ministries and operators to undertake necessary activities in this direction.

Such a transfer requires technical readiness, as well as changes to contracts signed with subscribers, Deputy Communications and IT Iltimas Mammadov said earlier.

"After the network will be ready, operators will make the transition to manat tariffs," Mammadov said.

At present, three mobile operators of GSM standard - Azercell, Bakcell and Azerfon operate in Azerbaijan.
