Kazakhstan introduces tracking of int'l road transport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jun. 27

By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:

Kazakhstan’s president approved the amendments to the country’s law on road transport, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the president.

The decree signed by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym Jomart Tokayev on Jun. 27, 2020, introduces amendments on the issues of tracking international road transportation.

Within the framework of the amendments, notions such as ‘international road transport tracking information system’ and ‘electronic identifiers’ are being legally identified.

The document also establishes the requirements for carriers regarding the use of electronic identifiers during international road transportation and introduces administrative liability for the intentional damage or destruction of electronic identifiers.

Earlier this year, Kazakhstan has also ratified a law on mechanism of traceability of goods transported via customs on the territory of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The law aims to ensure effective control over the circulation of goods, to detect illegal traffic, to exclude conditions for tax evasion, and to increase tax revenues and customs payments to the budget.
