The resumption of activity of Nakhchivan-Mashhad railway line is important for Iran in terms of regional communications, Consulate General of Iran in Nakhchivan, Ahmad Hosseini said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
He made the remark during a meeting with the Director of Nakhchivan Railways LLC Mahir Aliyev.
According to Hosseini, the resumption of the Nakhchivan-Mashhad railway may be the beginning of communications.
If the final decision of the Iranian and Azerbaijani railway officials is reached, practical steps will be taken in connection with the operation of the Nakhchivan-Mashhad railway.
The role of Nakhchivan in the railway sector and the restoration of regional communications focused at the meeting. And it was noted that the use of railway lines from the Bandar Abbas port to the Caucasus, Russia and the Black Sea will serve the interests of all.
The Nakhchivan-Mashhad-Nakhchivan railway was launched in 2016. Later, the railway was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
