The number of passengers transported through Zahedan International Airport in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (South-Eastern Iran) decreased by 4 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.
According to the statistics, 303,848 passengers were transported through the Zahedan Airport in 9 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 316,917.
Within 9 months, 2,543 tons of cargo were transported via the airport. Cargo transportation decreased by 3 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
So, 2,621 tons of cargo had been transported through this airport in the same period last Iranian year.
In general, the Zahedan International Airport has received 3,562 passenger planes over the reporting period, which is an increase of 12 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, the figure amounted to 3,191 passenger planes in the same period last Iranian year.
Iran's Zahedan International Airport is located on an area of 900 hectares.
