BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. A total of 284.8 million tons of cargo was transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in May 2022, which is 5 percent less than in May 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.
In turn, the volume of cargo transported over five months of 2022 amounted to 1.4 billion tons, which is 2.4 percent more year-on-year compared to 1.3 billion tons over the same period of last year.
Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The volume of cargo transported in the region amounted to 56.2 million tons in May and 277.8 million tons over the reporting period of 2022, which is 8.6 percent less and 2.8 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.
Karaganda region is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 48.9 million tons transported in May 2022 (up by 0.3 percent compared to May 2021). The volume of cargo transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 245.02 million tons, which compared to 237.5 million during the same period last year, indicates a 3.1-percent increase.
Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in May 2022 (21.9 million tons, down by 15.2 percent). The volume of cargo transported in the city over the period from January through May 2022 amounted to 107.2 million tons, which is 2.9 percent less than during the same period last year (110.4 million tons).
The least cargo volume was transported in the West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 3.8 million tons of cargo in May 2022, which is 20 percent less than in May 2021. The volume of cargo transported from January through May 2022 was 19.2 million tons, which is 2.8 percent less year-on-year.
