BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. More than 34 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Khuzestan Province Behrouz Aghaei said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

According to Aghaei, about 5.5 million tons of products were exported through Imam Khomeini port in 9 months, which is 6 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year.

The director general added that over 12 million tons of essential products were unloaded at Imam Khomeini port within nine months. Also, there are currently more than 5.74 million tons of essential products in the mentioned port.

“In addition, 4.28 million tons of mining minerals and chemical products were loaded and unloaded in the port during the reporting period. This is an increase of 23 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

Aghaei also pointed out that about 1.56 million tons of crude oil and related products were loaded and unloaded in Imam Khomeini port in 9 months, which is an increase of 7 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“Meanwhile, in the 9th month of the current Iranian year (November 22 through December 21, 2022) alone, 3.16 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded at Imam Khomeini port. Of this, 1.5 million tons were loaded and 1.66 million tons were unloaded products,” the director general noted.
