BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 8. Iran is looking to increase the number of air flights with Azerbaijan, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash told Trend.
Bazrpash said that during his visit to Azerbaijan, one of the economic topics between the two countries was the expansion of air travel.
“Considering the existing potentials of the two countries, talks were held on enhancing air flights for easy movement of businessmen, students and citizens, and outcomes were achieved. Soon, the frequency of flights between Iran and Azerbaijan will increase,” he added.
In total, more than 98,000 flights were operated from Iranian airports in the first 4 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), which is 5.3 percent lower than the same period last year.
At the same time, 11.3 million passengers were carried through Iran’s airports for 4 months. Passenger traffic dropped by 3.5 compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, over 109,000 tons of cargo were transported through Iranian airports in 4 months. This is a decrease of 1.38 percent compared to the same period last year.
