A football club coach in Kazakhstan plans to introduce fines for players he considers are out of shape, AFP reported.
Following a recent game in the Central Asian state, Shakhter coach Viktor Kumykov complained about the physique of the team's captain, Andrei Finonchenko.
"Andrei has gained excessive weight," Kumykov told local newspaper Novy Vestnik.
He added that Finonchenko had put on pounds while recovering from injury.
"He can only play one half because it's difficult to play football with his weight," Kumykov said after his Karagandy-based club's 2-0 home defeat of rivals Vostok.
He declined to disclose the size of the fine.
"We set a period of time for a player to get himself back in shape, otherwise he is subjected to penalties," Kumykov, whose club are lying thirf in the league, added.
