BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 1. Kazakhstan's President Kassym Jomart Tokayev proposed to hold elections to the Majilis and Maslikhats in the first half of 2023, Trend reports.
“I propose to hold elections to the Majilis [lower house of the parliament] and maslikhats [a local representative body (parliament) in Kazakhstan that is elected by a population of a region, district and city] of all levels in the first half of next year,” said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at a joint meeting of the chambers of the Parliament.
He stressed that this would allow updating the composition of the Parliament.
“We will get a new composition of deputies representing the interests of wide groups of citizens. I am sure that this will increase the efficiency of the work of maslikhats and the Parliament,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev added.
