BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 19. Astana attracted 1.2 trillion Kazakh tenge (around $2.5 billion) in 2022, Yerlan Bekmurzayev, Vice head of Astana, said, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.
In the structure of investments, the share of construction investments is 53 percent or 633 billion Kazakh tenge (around $1.3 billion), while 9 percent of the total amount, an equivalent of 107 billion Kazakh tenge ($228.8 million), was invested in transportation and logistics. Investments in the industry sector accounted for 6 percent, or 71.6 billion Kazakh tenge ($153.1 million).
According to the Astana official, currently, there are around 201,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). SMEs provide employment to 444,000 people, or 71 percent of the economically active population of the city.
According to him, the development of high-tech and innovative industrial production, the expansion of the transport and logistics complex, as well as the implementation of projects in the social sphere are the priority areas of development of Astana.
