(gazeta.kz) - Direct railway-ferry communication between Kazakhstan and Russia has opened at the Caspian, Serik Akhmetov, Minister of Transport and Communications, stated at a briefing in Aktau.
"The first ferry has arrived in Aktau port as a part of the Agreement on Organising Direct Railway-Ferry Communication through Ports of Astrakhan Water Transport Centre, Makhachkala (Russia) and Aktau (Kazakhstan) and normative documents signed by the Ministers of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan and Russia," - Mr. Akhmetov said Thursday, reports Trend.
According to him, on Friday, November 10, the ferry will depart for Makhachkala port. "The first cargo will consist of oil products, consumer goods, and Kazakhstani grain loaded into 52 railway cars," - he specified.
