BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 25. The value of Kyrgyz gold imports from Kazakhstan increased in 11 months of 2022, Trend reports citing the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.
According to statistics, Kyrgyzstan imported gold from Kazakhstan worth $24.7 million from January through November 2022, which is an increase of 21 percent over the same period in 2021 ($20.4 million).
During the reporting period of last year, the volume of Kyrgyz imports of gold from Kazakhstan amounted to 457 kg, which is an increase of 14.5 percent compared to January through November 2021 (399 kg).
At the same time, Kyrgyzstan also exported gold for $1 million in 11 months last year. About 83.5 kg of gold were sold to Türkiye for $789,700 and 5 kilograms to the UAE for $295,900.
Gold mining in Kazakhstan has become prominent in recent years as the country is encouraging to invest in this mineral-rich country. The government indicates that Kazakhstan’s current raw material base for gold mining includes 293 deposits - primarily small ones.
