Kyrgyzstan's cotton fiber export down

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 7. Kyrgyzstan exported 2,100 tons of cotton fiber in January 2023, which is 3.5 percent less than in the same period of 2022 (2,131 tons), Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

The value of export decreased by 29 percent year-on-year in January 2023 – from $5.6 million to $3.9 million.

In the reporting period, Kyrgyzstan exported 1,122 tons of cotton fiber to Iran, which is 13.5 times more than in January 2023 (90 tons).

In contrary, the export of cotton fiber to Türkiye dropped by 2.5 times over the indicators of January 2023 – from 2,041 tons to 815 tons.

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan supplied 119 tons of cotton fiber to Latvia in the first month of 2023, while, according to the statistics, the country did not export this type of goods to Latvia in January 2022.

The main export destination of Kyrgyzstan in January 2023 were Kazakhstan (30.9 percent of the Kygyz export), Russia (30.8 percent) and Uzbekistan (10.2 percent).

Among the non-CIS countries, the goods were mainly supplied to Türkiye, which accounts for 8.3 percent of the country's total exports, and China - 4.6 percent.
