BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 5. Significant amounts of microloans provided by non-banking financial organizations in Kyrgyzstan from January through June 2023 were extended to recipients in Bishkek, totaling 4.570 billion soms ($51 million), or 19.3 percent of the total microloans issued, Trend reports.
Data from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan indicates that the Osh region follows closely, with microloans granted amounting to 4.037 billion soms ($45.507 million), or 17.1 percent of the total.
In the Jalal-Abad region, microloans were issued for 3.728 billion soms ($42 million), while in the Chuy region, the total was 3.724 billion soms ($41.979 million), each comprising 15.8 percent of the overall microloan count. These regions, along with Bishkek, Osh, and Jalal-Abad, also accounted for the majority of microloan recipients.
The highest average loan amount per recipient from January through June this year was recorded in the Chuy region at 83,800 soms ($944.6), followed closely by Bishkek at 82,500 soms ($930).
Issyk-Kul region and Osh also saw relatively high averages at 71,400 soms ($804) and 70,300 soms ($792.4), respectively. On average, across the country, this figure stood at 67,500 soms ($760).
In Kyrgyzstan, 349,800 individuals obtained microloans from non-banking financial institutions, totaling 23.628 billion soms ($226.3 million) from January through June 2023.
