BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 13. The State Tax Service of Kyrgyzstan collected 15.374 billion soms ($174.033 million) in indirect import taxes within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) from January through April 2024, Trend reports.
According to the service, the figure is 960.3 million soms ($10.870 million), or 6.7 percent more than in the same period last year.
The taxes include 12.259 billion soms ($138.772 million) from value-added tax (VAT) on imports and 3.115 billion soms ($35.261 million) from excise taxes on imports.
The tax agency is using cutting-edge digital resources, such as electronic supplemental paperwork and information systems like Internal Post and Consolidated Post, to streamline the processing of these taxes. Additionally, importers can use online services to file tax reports and statements.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and the member states of the EAEU in January through March 2024 amounted to $868.5 million, decreasing by 6.5 percent compared to January through March 2023. The largest share of the country's mutual trade for this period was with Russia (70.4 percent) and Kazakhstan (27.2 percent).
