BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 25. The European Investment Bank (EIB) is attempting to ascertain the terms and circumstances for financing the largest Rogun HPP project in Tajikistan, Trend reports with reference to the asiaplustj.info.

"The final decision on the details of our participation will depend on the fulfillment of a number of preconditions, including project guarantees, procurement and other crucial elements for the project," the EIB said.

EIB highlighted the importance of the Rogun project by the fact that it will help separate the Tajik economy from fossil fuels and create an environmentally friendly, sustainable and renewable source of electricity.

“We can support the project with both advisory support and long-term financing, as well as combine grants from the EU with EIB funding,” the Bank added.

Notably, with a 3,600 MW installed capacity, the Rogun HPP will be the largest HPP in Central Asia, producing from 13 to 17 billion kWh of electricity per year.
