President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved the proposal to establish a national logistics and freight forwarding association, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reports May 26.
At a government meeting held a day before, it was noted that cooperation in this area is one of the strategic directions of the global agenda.
The article says that Turkmenistan has previously made a number of proposals for the creation of transport and communication corridors, the effective use of which will provide an opportunity to further increase the volume of freight and passenger traffic in the north-south and west-east directions.
The country's cooperation with the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), which includes national profile structures from 150 countries, is also strengthening. The proposal on accession of the national logistics and freight forwarding association of Turkmenistan to full membership of FIATA was also announced.
