Agriculture production plan in Turkmenistan's Lebap region surpasses forecast

Agriculture sector production plan in Turkmenistan's Lebap region has exceed initial forecast for the first five months of 2020, in particular for vegetables (by 46.7 percent), fruit (by 3 percent), potatoes (18.4 percent), Trend reports with reference to Jeyhun news.

Along with agriculture, Lebap region is actively engaged in meat production and dairy product manufacturing.

During the mentioned period, 55,195 tons of live meat, 222,300 tons of milk, and 92.5 million eggs were received.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is developing rapidly. It is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy. The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetables and fruits.

The development of agriculture is carried out on a scientific basis. Various types of agricultural crops are grown taking into account the agro-ecological characteristics of the country's regions.

In recent years, the country has increased production of vegetables, fruits and increased areas for perennial plants, vineyards and greenhouses.
