BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. The number of bank cards issued in Turkmenistan as of May 1, 2022, amounted to 4.86 million, which is 2 percent more compared to January (4.77 million), Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.
According to the bank, the largest number of cards was issued in the capital of the country - the city of Ashgabat (1.69 million cards). It is followed by Mary (863,000 cards) and Lebap regions (791,300 cards).
Dayhanbank State Commercial Bank issued the most cards - 1.75 million, followed by the State Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan (962,100 cards) and the Halkbank Joint-Stock Commercial Bank (529,300 cards).
Over the past four years, the number of cards issued in Turkmenistan has doubled.
