BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the Minister of Finance and Economy Mukhammetgeldi Serdarov, took part in the 78th annual session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, Trend reports citing Orient news.

The theme of this year's session is "A common agenda to advance sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific".

Speaking at the event, the Finance Minister recalled that Turkmenistan, within the framework of the sessions of the UN General Assembly, took the initiative to organize another international conference on financing for development.

At this stage, Turkmenistan is moving to the use of modern environmentally friendly and resource-saving technologies in the field of industry and transport, Serdarov noted.

On the sidelines of the 78th session, the Turkmen Minister met with ESCAP Executive Secretary Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, expressing readiness to continue to interact with the organization on the issues of the sustainable development agenda.

The parties discussed the mobilization of domestic financial resources, and the use of bonds to attract funds for sustainable development and highly appreciated the cooperation of Turkmenistan and ESCAP in the implementation of a number of projects, including the construction of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway.
