ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 14. Farmers in the Lebap region of Turkmenistan have harvested about 50,000 tons of rice this season, Trend reports.

This much rice was gathered from 10,200 hectares of land in the Lebap region this season.

This season, farmers in the Charjew district of the Lebap region harvested more than 15,000 tons of rice from an area of 3,080 hectares, yielding 49.25 quintals per hectare.

Furthermore, over 10,000 tons of rice had been harvested on 2,160 hectares of land in the same region's Danew area this season.

Farmers in Koytendag, Kerki, Halach, and Hojambaz districts also completed their rice harvesting production plans this year.

Meanwhile, the government of Turkmenistan has been actively supporting agriculture in recent years, including rice cultivation, in order to ensure food security and eliminate dependence on grain imports.

The state invests in infrastructure development, modernization of equipment, and the provision of financial incentives for farmers and agricultural enterprises engaged in rice cultivation.
