IMF upgrades forecast for Turkmenistan's current account balance

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 17. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that Turkmenistan's current account balance will reach 4.1 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024, Trend reports.

According to the IMF forecast, this figure increased by 2.3 percentage points compared to the previous October forecast (1.8 percent) and by 1.3 percentage points compared to the forecast for April 2023 (2.8 percent).

At the same time, the IMF also predicts that Turkmenistan's current account balance will decrease to 2.8 percent of GDP in 2025.

The data also show that Turkmenistan's current account balance for the whole of last year amounted to 4.8 percent, which is 1.4 percentage points higher than the previous forecast (3.4 percent).
