ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 17. The international community must help the Afghan people overcome a difficult, long-term period and restore state institutions to achieve peace in the country, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at the Central Asia – Germany summit in Astana today, Trend reports via the official Turkmen media.

"The international community must help the Afghan people overcome the difficult, prolonged period and transition to constructive, nationwide efforts to restore state institutions, the economy, and the social sector, and to achieve and establish peace, harmony, and unity in the country," he explained.

The head of state mentioned that the implementation of major infrastructure and economic projects, along with attracting significant foreign investments, will contribute to transforming Afghanistan into a stable, peaceful country and a valuable economic partner.

To note, on September 17, the second meeting of Central Asian and German leaders took place in Astana.

During the summit, the leaders discussed further development and deepening of multifaceted cooperation between the region's countries and Germany.

Special attention was given to expanding practical cooperation in trade, economics, investment, technology, transport, communications, and other priority areas. Joint meetings were also held with the heads of leading German companies and banks.

The summit has concluded with the adoption of a joint declaration by the leaders of Central Asia and Germany.
