China to build glass-works in Ashgabat

(www.turkmenistan.ru) - The Ministry of construction and construction materials industry of Turkmenistan and the consortium of Chinese companies Capital-Lonqji Sci-Tech Co., Ltd and SINOMASCH signed a contract on the turnkey construction of a glass-works in Ashgabat. As the www.turkmenistan.ru reports from Ashgabat with reference to the State News Service (TDH), the total cost of the project is US $ 67,38 million. The facility should be commissioned in February 2009. China's Export-Import Bank will issue a soft credit to finance the project.

The new plant will be erected near the bypass road in the northern part of Ashgabat. Built by the Chinese partners, it will become the largest plant in the region. The plant will be fitted with modern equipment and will use latest technologies. It will mainly use locally produced raw materials, reports Trend.

After reaching its full capacity, the Ashgabat glass-works will annually produce 5,8 million square meters of glass (4 mm thick) by the float method, 85 million units of various glass containers and 300 thousand square meters of double-glazing units, including toned glass units. The production complex will also accommodate a plant on silica sand enrichment which is the main material for glass production. The plant's capacity will be 100 thousand tons.
