Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan agree on developing roadmap to deepen industrial co-op

Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agreed to develop and approve a roadmap to deepen industrial cooperation, indicating specific projects and partners from both countries, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

The mentioned issue was discussed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Chary Gylydzhov within the visit of the government delegation of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on the prospects for its expansion.

It was noted that the interaction of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan was brought to the level of strategic partnership and is currently developing dynamically despite the COVID-19 pandemic and recession in the world economy caused by the imposed quarantine restrictions.

Also, it was noted that over the past three years, the volume of mutual trade has increased three times, and in the period from January to June of this year, the growth in trade amounted to nine percent in relation to the same period last year. Mutual readiness to implement joint practical measures to intensify mutual trade was voiced.

In addition, special attention was paid to the prospects for the development of industrial cooperation. An agreement was reached on the development of joint projects for the deep processing of agricultural and fruit and vegetable products, the organization of the production of finished textile, leather and footwear and pharmaceutical products, household and agricultural equipment.

Moreover, issues of strengthening inter-regional cooperation, in particular, between Bukhara region and Lebap region, as well as Khorezm region and Dashoguz region were discussed. The sides discussed the prospects for holding joint events with the organization of bilateral negotiations between enterprises of the regions of the two countries.
