TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 4. The French Veolia company announced its intention to create a regional platform for joint Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) projects in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan's Economy and Finance Ministry, this was announced at a meeting between the Ministry's leadership and representatives of Veolia, headed by the company’s senior executive vice president for Central Asia, Central, and Eastern Europe, Philippe Guitard.

The main direction of the platform will be to finance projects in the fields of heat supply, water supply, sewerage, and modernization of irrigation pumping stations.

The sides discussed the prospects for cooperation, in particular the possibility of establishing an Institute for Sustainable Development. The Institute will train engineers and technicians for the energy and utilities sectors.

In addition, the meeting also discussed ongoing joint projects in which Veolia is already involved in Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, Veolia has installed more than 30 small heat generators in Tashkent to meet the needs of boiler houses.

The company said the generators are designed to maintain the operability of the company's local boiler houses that generate thermal energy. They will ensure the uninterrupted operation of the boiler equipment in case of a power outage.
