The National Iranian Gas Company has signed deals with domestic insurance companies to provide all the gas industry facilities and establishments with insurance coverage.
NIGC's managing director Javad Owji told the Mehr news agency that 13 refineries, 65 gas pressure boosting stations and the gas pipeline network have been insured.
"All the South Pars gas field establishments are also fully covered by insurance," he said. The entire 34,000 kilometre pipeline network has also been insured, he added.
Deputy Oil Minister Alireza Zeighami said a package of investment worth $47.5 billion, has been prepared to develop different sectors of the oil refining and distribution industry.
Some $2 billion should be invested by 2015 to boost the storage capacity of oil products, the official noted.
