Iranian opposition leader Mehdi Karroubi has been admitted to one of the hospital affiliated with Iran's security apparatus yesterday, Saham News reported.

Reportedly, Karroubi was transferred to a hospital by security forces took place in the wake of rising concerns and warning signs regarding his worsened health.

Two weeks prior, Karroubi started experiencing extreme weight loss, a lack of appetite, dizziness and nausea.

Following repeated warnings by Karroubi's family regarding his deteriorating physical heath, security forces finally decided to allow that the opposition leader to be admitted to one of the hospitals under the supervision of the security apparatus.

In 2009 Iranian Presidential election, Mousavi came out of semi-retirement and ran as one of two Reformist candidates against the Administration of incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

However he failed to win the election, and following alleged vote rigging and manipulation, his campaign sparked a long protest that eventually turned into a national movement against the Government and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

It has also been reported that another opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi was also admitted to Tehran's Heart Center for a few hours today in order to undergo a number of cardiac tests.

Opposition leaders Mehdi Karroubi, Mir Hossein Mousavi and Zahra Rahnavard have been under house arrest for more than 650 days.

Mehdi Karroubi has spent the last 600 days in isolation and under house arrest without his wife at a location other than his personal residence.
