Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei and Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani were disapproved by Guardian Council of Iran, from participating in the upcoming presidential elections, Mehr news agency reported.

The Guardian Council has not yet published an official list of approved names for the elections.

Iranian Tasnim News agency also reported quoting unnamed official anonymously that only 8 people could pass the Guardian Council's checking.

Mehr listed the names of the people, which are still in the list: Haddad-Adel, Saeed Jalili, Mohsen Rezaei, Hassan Rouhani, Mohammed Reza Aref, Mohammad Bager Qalibaf, Mohammad Gharazi, Ali Akbar Velayati.

Head of Iran's election commission, Deputy of Interior Minister, Solat Mortazavi said that only Interior Ministry's official announcement on the approved list of candidates is considered legit.

Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14, 2013.

The voters will select the successor of the current President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the elections for the third term according to the country's constitutional laws.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election and the Guardian Council vets the candidates for qualifications.
