Iran generated 3.255 billion kilowatt hours of electricity from June 22, 2009 to June 22, 2019 through alternative energy sources, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Energy Ministry.

The generation of electricity in such a volume has prevented the spread of about 2.246 million tons of greenhouse gases, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, some 112 alternative renewable power plants have been already built.

Some 43,400 people were employed in the renewable energy sector. The private investments worth 124 trillion rials (about $2.95 billion) were made in this sector, the ministry said.
