Iran has the potential to produce and export home appliances to neighboring countries, said the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Iranian Association for Audio and Video Accessories Alireza Mousavi Majd, Trend reports via IRNA.
"Some home appliances manufacturing companies have used their potential in human resources, domestic power and research and development to manufacture new products despite sanctions and difficult economic situation," said Majd.
Among the achievements of local companies, Majd mentioned a washing machine with capacity to disinfect clothes with Ozone gas.
He went on to add that there's no risk if foreign brands return to Iran, such as LG or Samsung, since South Korean brands define their own directions, and would not intervene with strategies of the domestic brands.
"Iran has potential to become a home appliances export hub in the region," Majd said. "Foreign brands could use cheap labour here, as well as basic materials, to manufacture home appliances in Iran and export them to neighboring countries. But it requires support of public organizations."
Among Iran's potential target markets, he named Middle East and Central Asia.
