TEHRAN, Iran, July 30. There is significant potential to develop ties with South Korea, if the country unblocks Iran's assets frozen there, Secretary General of Iran-South Korea Joint Chamber of Commerce Pouya Firouzi told Trend.

"The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) is directly negotiating the issue," Firouzi said.

South Korea has unblocked a very small part of Iran's frozen money and the CBI has used the money to import essential commodities such as medicines, but it was an insignificant figure, he said.

About $7 billion of Iran's oil revenues have been frozen in two South Korean banks since September 2019.
