TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 17
Trend:
The International Atomic Energy Agency claims that Iran has produced 200 grams of metallic 20 percent enriched uranium metal.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed in a report that Iran has made progress in its work on enriched uranium metal, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.
"On 14 August 2021, the Agency verified that Iran had used 257 g of 20 percent enriched uranium to produce 200 grams of 20 percent enriched metallic uranium," the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said in a report to member states on Monday seen by Reuters.
The IAEA considers Iran's action as the third step of Iran's four-stage plan to produce a reactor fuel plate.
Iran's representative to the international organizations in Vienna said in July that the Islamic Republic would soon produce enriched uranium metal and that the country had earlier informed the United Nations nuclear watchdog of the move.
In addition, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors have visited Iran's nuclear facilities several times but have never found any evidence that the country's peaceful nuclear energy program is deviating to military purposes.
