The de-monopolisation of the economy, the development of agriculture and small and medium entrepreneurship will be one of the priorities of the economic policy of the new Georgian government.

While representing a government programme called 'For a strong, democratic, united Georgia', Bidzina Ivanishvili made this statement at the Georgian Parliament on Thursday.

There is an on-going procedure to present the government's programme at the Georgian Parliament and approve its composition today.

Ivanishvili also stressed the importance of pension reform which implies a transition to an accumulative system, but still ensures adjusting the pensions with the cost of living and health care reform. All Georgian citizens will be provided with a universal basic health insurance package at the first stage.

The government plans to introduce a taxation mechanism in fiscal policy based on the principle of fairness, Ivanishvili said.

He also stressed that utility payments will be reconsidered to significantly reduce the tariffs.
Earlier leader of the Georgian Dream coalition which won the recent parliamentary elections, Bidzina Ivanishvili proposed candidates for ministers in the new Georgian government.
Ivanishvili intends to become prime minister.
