The parties discussed various global and regional problems including the peace process between Israel and its Arabic neighbors, forthcoming chairmanship of the Czech Republic in the European Union (EU) and the recent terrorist attacks on Mumbai.
The President commented the terrorist acts committed in India. Shimon Peres stressed the fact that the World Community ought to take tough measures in the fight with terrorism and the countries supporting the terrorists. Otherwise, there will not be any serene states, the Israel President said. "The world must unite into a unified global power to fight against terrorism," Israel President said.
About 172 people died during the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, approximately 400 citizens were wounded, according to earlier reports. During many hours the terrorists took a hostage about 500 people. In total, 10 Islamic militants kept the people of Mumbai in awe within 60 hours.
According to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, about six Israeli died during the terrorist attack.
