Two miners were rescued alive on Monday
after seven days of being trapped inside a flooded mineshaft in the northern Philippines, dpa reported.
Rescuers were still searching for 11 other miners who remained trapped inside
the shaft in Itogon town in Benguet province, 225 kilometres south of Manila.
A total of 16 miners were trapped in the flooded shaft since Monday last week
when they entered the tunnel at the height of a strong typhoon. Three dead
bodies were recovered on Friday.
