Police in Faryab province of northwest Afghanistan have captured three Taliban insurgents including a commander of the outfit, a police officer in the province Mohammad Afzal Imamzada said Wednesday, reported Xinhua.
"The three insurgents, under the command of Mullah Noor Mohammad, had been involved in conducting subversive activities like roadside bombings, dynamiting bridges, killing and threatening people," Imamzada told newsmen Wednesday.
However, he did not say the exact date of their arrest.
Meantime, the police official added that the trio had confessed of relations with Taliban and carrying out anti-government activities.
Taliban fighters have yet to make comment.
The militias this year have begun shifting activities from their traditional stronghold in the south to the relatively peaceful northern region of Afghanistan.
