The police chief of the southern Afghan province of Kandahar was killed Friday in a suicide attack inside police headquarters, officials said, DPA reported.
A suicide bomber in Afghan military clothes entered the police headquarters in the provincial capital, also called Kandahar, and detonated his explosives-packed vest, killing police chief Khan Mohammad Mujahid and two other police officers, Interior Ministry spokesman Zamarai Bashiri said.
Three other police were injured, he said.
The suicide bomber acted alone, Bashiri said.
Kandahar province, the birthplace of the Taliban, has seen numerous attacks on Afghan officials despite NATO-led operations there last year that forced militants from large swaths of territory.
