Ukraine's Victor Yushchenko met Russia's Mikhail Fradkov

(ForUm) - Victor Yushchenko has met with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, who is visiting Kyiv to take part in a meeting of the Economic Cooperation Committee of the Ukraine-Russia Commission, the press office of the President reported.

The President said he saw it as an important stage in preparations for the first meeting of the Commission. Mr. Fradkov informed him of its results, particularly documents the sides had signed, reports Trend.

They discussed ways to build closer economic and investment ties, and prospects for industrial cooperation between Ukraine and Russia. Mr. Yushchenko said the two countries should settle border and pension issues.

Mr. Yushchenko and Mr. Fradkov also spoke about the countries' integration into the World Trade Organization and participation in the CIS and SES.

The Chief of State opined that they should seek more civilized forms of cooperation when developing bilateral relations.

They both praised the resumption of the constructive dialogue and expressed willingness to intensify contacts, respecting mutual strategic interests.
