Turkish Air Force conducted operations in northern Iraq against militants of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Trend reports referring to the statement of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey.
"As a result of the air operation conducted in the Haftanin region of northern Iraq, the hideouts and shelters of terrorists were destroyed, together with their ammunition depots," the statement reads.
The Turkish Air Force also conducted operations in the north of Iraq in the morning hours of March 7, 2019.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has lasted more than 25 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
