New cableway to be built in Turkey's north-west

A cableway will be built in the Sapanca district of the Turkey's Sakarya province, located in the country's north-west, a source at the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

Currently, preparatory work is underway, upon completion of which a tender will be announced.

The ministry did not disclose the cost of the project, but said the construction of the cableway in the Sapanca district will contribute to the development of tourism in Sakarya, the ministry said.

The longest cableway (4.3 kilometers) in Turkey is located in Antalya province.

The first cableway in the country was built in 1963 in the province of Bursa.
