“The Greek community of Cyprus threatens Azerbaijan with opening of the direct flights to Nagorno-Karabakh, but they will fail,” Mehmet Ali Talat, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, stated in an interview to the newspaper Hurriyet’, Trend reports.

Azerbaijan’s steps directed at improving relationships with the North Cyprus will help to remove the international isolation of the Turkish community, while threats by the Greek community will be failure, Talat said.

“Their threats will not come to reality,” the President underlined. Talat noted that the next countries, whose airplanes will fly to North Cyprus, would be Iran, Israel and the United States.

Rejeb Tayyub Erdogan, the Turkish Prime-Minister, stressed on the eve of his visit to Russia that the latest steps of Azerbaijan meant de-facto’ recognition of the North Cyprus. “I hope Azerbaijan’s steps in this direction will continue”, he added.
