Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 27

By Maksim Tsurkov - Trend:

Greece does not rule out the possibility of signing an agreement on customs cooperation with Azerbaijan in the future, the head of the International Relations Department of the Greek Customs Administration Odysseas Pylalis told Trend Nov. 26.

The statement was made on the sidelines of the meeting of the heads of the customs administrations of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) member-states entitled "The customs services' initiative on trade facilitation" in Baku.

He believes that it is necessary to expand the customs cooperation between Greece and Azerbaijan both as part of the BSEC, as well as bilateral relations of the countries.

"We want to simplify our trade and economic relations with the BSEC member-states, especially with Azerbaijan, which is one of the most important countries in the region," he said.

He said that the relations between Greece and Azerbaijan have always been good.

"We must continue improving the customs cooperation between countries," he said. "We intend to develop the work in the direction of customs modernization, expansion of the information exchange, the active introduction of information technologies, etc."

"I am in Azerbaijan for the first time," he said. "I intend to explore the country and its opportunities. I think that in the future we will be able to conclude a bilateral agreement in the field of customs for the further development of our relations."
