Production capacity of the Azerbaijani state oil firm SOCAR's Baku Deep Water Jacket Factory named after Heydar Aliyev will be increased twofold by the beginning of the next year, a source in the Azerbaijan's oil and gas market told Trend Jan. 29.

Work on the expansion of factory's modernization is carried out intensively.

"Upon completion of all the work, the factory's production capacity will increase from 60,000 to 120,000 tons of metalware per year," said the source.

The source noted that the factory currently continues construction of support blocks for two platforms, pilings and underwater structures within the framework of the second phase of the development of Shah Deniz gas-condensate field in the Caspian Sea's Azerbaijani sector.

"As it is known, work was accelerated, and the significant progress has been achieved," added the source.

The Deep Water Jacket Factory named after Heydar Aliyev is managed by the Bos Shelf joint venture, which is a subsidiary of SOCAR.

In April 1984, the factory reached full capacity. The first supporting block of the deepwater platform was launched from stocks of the factory and was commissioned in August 1985.
