Iranian border guards were combating a number of terrorists trying to enter the Iranian territory via its eastern border.

In the battle which took place in the early hours of the day, some of the terrorist group members were killed and three were arrested, one was injured, Iranian Chief of Border Police Qasem Rezaei said.

The terrorist launched their attack at the borderline in Mirjaveh county in Sistan-Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran, IRNA news agency reported July 11.

Rezaei said the arrested terrorists confessed during interrogations that they had planned terrorist acts in the provinces of Sistan-Baluchestan and Kerman, especially the city of Bam.

A lot of weapons, ammunition, and equipment was confiscated during the operation.

Iran also suffered one fatality during the battle.

Iran will thoroughly deal with any probable anti-security measure at its borders, Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi said June 13.

Last year there have been a number of terrorist attempts in Iran, especially in Sistan-Baluchestan and Khuzestan provinces.

A terrorist group shot dead two soldiers and a teacher in southeastern Iran. Later, Iran said it had disbanded the group.

Also, Jaish ul-Adl group took several Iranian soldiers hostage last year. Later on it freed all except one, who had been killed under custody.
