Establishment of a new government in Iran has created the basis for the development of relations between the two countries and Azerbaijan is ready to use this opportunity. It was said by Minister of Emergency Situations Kamaladdin Heydarov at a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on March 15, Mehr agency reported.

Heydarov conveyed a special message of President Ilham Aliyev to the Iranian president.

"Attention exerted by you and by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will lay the basis for the development of relations between the two countries," minister said.

Level of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan is at a satisfactory level, but there is great potential for further development, Iranian president Hassan Rouhani said.

According to him, Iran is interested in developing relations with neighboring countries , especially with Azerbaijan. Iran and Azerbaijan are two friendly, brotherly and neighboring countries, and we want to establish a relationship deserving the people of the two countries, Iranian president said .

Earlier Saturday, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan held a meeting with the head of Iran's Customs Administration Masoud Karbasiyan, IRNA reported.

During the meeting the sides discussed ways of solving existing problems for the development of economic and trade relations between the countries.

Head of Iran's Customs Administration proposed to revise certain customs laws that create problems for the development of economic ties.

According to Karbasiyan, difficulties that Iranian citizens have in obtaining visas are also a problem for the development of relations.

Minister of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan also proposed to reduce customs duties for goods produced in Azerbaijan, which are exported to Iran.
