A criminal case over Iranian Deputy Prosecutor, ex-Tehran Prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi will be strictly reviewed, Prosecutor General Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei was quoted as saying by ILNA news agency.
"I have repeatedly been interested in the case over Mortazavi and the relevant structures reported that the investigation is underway," Ejei said.
Earlier, the Tehran Military Court dismissed Mortazavi after a series of tragic incidents in the Kahrizak Prison. The court discussed cases over two other judges in connection to the incident.
The court dismissed all three persons from their posts. After their dismissal, the individuals may face lawsuits on behalf of prisoners and their families, the verdict read.
The Kahrizak prison is located in the city Karadaj near Tehran. Ali Khamenei issued a decree on the closure of the detention on center July 28. Prisoners involved in protests against the presidential election were kept here. Khamenei's decree was issued after the mysterious death of Vice-presidential candidate Iran Mohsun Rezai's son Mohsun Ruhulami and others in the same prison. Ex-prosecutor Saeed Mortazavi is accused of the murder of these people.
The Tehran military court No.1 sentenced to death two policemen who were arrested in connection with the tragic incident in the Kahrizak prison in early July. They were accused of beating prisoners in the Kahrizak prison that caused the death of Amir Javadifar, Mohsun Ruhulami and Muhammad Kamrani. The court passed a verdict on the dismissal of two police officers from the service, payment of fines and compensation to the families of the dead (according to Shariat "payment for blood"), after which they will be executed. The court fined 9 other policemen. Based on the verdict, they were dismissed and sentenced to flogging.
The arrested are accused in detention of more prisoners in the facility than it should be, the failure to inform higher authorities about the problems in the isolation, and the default instructions for maintenance and protection of prisoners, on the application of physical violence and torture against the arrested and negligence shown during the control of the facility.
