The U.S. Open Democracy Committee will observe the parliamentary elections in Georgia. Its representatives met with Georgian journalists Tbilisi on Monday.

Chairman of the organization Joe Johnson said the purpose of their mission is to ensure free and democratic elections in Georgia.

"We have been in Georgia already for two weeks. The purpose of our organization is to ensure free and democratic elections. Our mission will include monitors from various countries, including the U.S., Canada, Spain and France - 20-25 monitors in total" Johnson said.

Johnson added that most observers are already in Georgia, and some will arrive in 7-10 days. Johnson noted that The Committee of open democracy in Georgia at the invitation of the President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

As noted at the press conference, the committee will also send observers to the regions.
